Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

fuelOS collects only the data necessary to provide nutrition tracking services. Your personal data — meals, health profile, nutrition information — is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. We do use standard ad measurement tools to understand whether our own advertising campaigns are working (see Section 4), but these tools do not receive any of your personal or nutrition data.

• Account Information: If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID for authentication and your email address (if you choose to share it) for account communications only.
• Meal Data: Photos, voice recordings, and text descriptions of your meals are processed to analyze nutrition information. Meal photos are stored securely in Firebase Storage solely to display your meal history within the app.
• Health Profile: If you provide it, we store your height, weight, age, biological sex, and activity level to calculate personalized nutrition targets. This data is used only within the app and is not shared externally.
• Apple Health Data: If you enable Health integration, we write calorie and macronutrient data to your local Health app. See our AI & Data Use policy for details.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively for providing app functionality:

• Analyzing meal nutrition using AI (Google Gemini API)
• Transcribing voice inputs using speech recognition (Deepgram API)
• Looking up packaged food nutrition (OpenFoodFacts, Edamam, FatSecret APIs)
• Syncing nutrition data to Apple Health (if enabled)
• Displaying your meal history and nutrition trends
• Processing subscriptions and purchases (RevenueCat)
• Improving app stability through crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics)
• Measuring ad campaign performance so we can understand how users discover fuelOS and avoid wasting money on ads that don't work (Tenjin)
• Sending important account notifications and, with your explicit consent, promotional updates

We do not use your personal data (meals, health profile, nutrition information) for: advertising targeting, user profiling, selling to data brokers, training AI models, or any purpose other than providing the fuelOS service.

3. Data Storage

• Local Storage: Your meal history is stored locally on your device using SwiftData.
• Cloud Sync: If you sign in, your data is stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage to enable syncing across your devices. This includes meal records, nutrition data, and meal photos.
• Secure Storage: All cloud data is associated with your authenticated account, protected by Firebase security rules, and encrypted in transit and at rest.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services solely to provide app functionality. These services receive only the minimum data necessary for their specific function and are contractually prohibited from using your data for other purposes:

• Google Gemini: For AI-powered nutrition analysis. Images and text are sent to Google's API for processing. See AI & Data Use for details.
• Deepgram: For voice-to-text transcription. Audio recordings are temporarily processed and not retained.
• Firebase (Google): For authentication, database, image storage, and crash reporting. Data is stored securely and used only for app functionality.
• RevenueCat: For subscription and purchase management. Processes payment data securely; we do not have access to your payment card details.
• OpenFoodFacts, Edamam, FatSecret: For looking up nutrition information of packaged foods via barcode scanning. Only barcode numbers are sent; no personal data is shared.
• Apple Sign In: For secure authentication.
• Tenjin: For measuring whether our ad campaigns lead to app installs. This SDK receives only basic device information (device model, operating system version, IP address) — it does not have access to your meals, health data, nutrition information, or any personal content. We use this solely to evaluate our own advertising spend, not to track your behavior or build a profile about you. You can deny tracking when prompted by iOS, and the SDK will not receive your device advertising identifier.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, license, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing, advertising, or any commercial purpose unrelated to providing the fuelOS service.

Your data is shared only as necessary to provide app functionality:

• Meal images/text sent to Google Gemini API for nutrition analysis
• Voice recordings sent to Deepgram API for transcription (not retained)
• Barcode numbers sent to nutrition databases for food lookup
• Crash and diagnostic data sent to Firebase Crashlytics for app stability
• Purchase data processed by RevenueCat for subscription management
• Health data synced to your local Apple Health app (if enabled)
• Basic device information (device model, OS version) shared with Tenjin for ad campaign measurement — no personal or nutrition data is included

All third-party services are bound by their respective privacy policies and data processing agreements that restrict use of your data to the specific service provided.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View all your data within the app
• Delete: Email support@fuelos.site to delete your account and all associated data
• Control: Disable Health sync or delete the app at any time

7. Communications

If you provide your email address (e.g., through Sign in with Apple), we may use it to send you transactional and service-related emails, including:

• Welcome and onboarding emails
• Usage reminders and activity notifications (e.g., logging reminders)
• Account and security notices
• Service updates and changes to our terms or policies

You may opt out of these communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in each email. Your email is never shared with third parties for their own communication purposes.

8. Children's Privacy

fuelOS is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or via email. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any changes.
